Countless people believe that luck is a random occurrence in life that the universe gives us a windfall or opportunity in our favor. Many have told me after my accident in 2018 how lucky I am to be alive and to survive what was deemed to be an unsurvivable crash by the police essentially unscathed. This type of luck is completely unexplainable or indescribable, and it is an entirely different scenario than just every day lucky events. If anything, I’d like to think I had my guardian angel on solemn duty that day.
Shifting your everyday luck is entirely possible and doable. The luck that has come from that situation has been more about the shift in my mindset that was brought to the forefront of my life than just random luck. So, how do you create better luck in your life? It all starts with your mindset. Your mindset creates and drives your life more than you may realize, and I will share with you some of my tips to shift your mindset for more incredible luck and abundance in your life.
Use Affirmations To Shift Your Mindset
Many people think that affirmations are all about telling yourself things that aren’t true. But in reality, what they’re doing is conditioning your brain to see the world differently. The first step is to practice affirmations every day, as part of your morning routine, and whenever you need a boost. There are two main themes: gratitude and confidence when it comes to luck. Gratitude helps us to reframe our view of setbacks, while confidence gets us out there in the world, taking chances and seizing opportunities.
If you struggle with affirmations, make them easy and attractive to do. For example, you can put post-it notes on your mirror so that you say them every morning while getting ready. Or, for those technology lovers out there, automate it on your phone calendar to ensure you take the time to tell yourself affirmations daily. The key is to focus on what you want and say it aloud. Once you’ve done that, the next step is to visualize yourself as if these things have already happened. You can do this daily or as often as you need until it becomes second nature.
Journal Only Positive Experiences
Journal every day the good things that happened that day. Before you think to yourself that is an unrealistic expectation, I want you to remember that our minds are a powerful thing. Every time you journal, you will be reflecting on a specific topic. That topic can be something you’re going through, positive or negative. It could be something you’re excited about or something that bothers you. But more importantly, it’s going to be something that you want to change your perspective on.
If you aim to shift your mindset for better luck, reflect on more positive daily experiences in your journal. If you find it challenging to see more positive experiences in your day, maybe reflect on what the challenging parts taught you and or the “silver linings” of those experiences. The more you reflect on the good and positive scenarios, the more your mind will look for the fortunate moments of the day. The mind can only focus on the negative if you allow it to, so shifting to mostly positive scenarios and learning experiences will help you train your mind to see more good than bad, shifting things to create more “luck” in your life.
Fortune Favors Those Who Are Bold
Fortune and luck often will favor bold and brave people within their lives. Comfort zones are great, but there is not as much growth there if we refuse to step out of them. Many people have a fixed mindset, where they’re afraid to try new things because they’re afraid of failing. But most successful people have a growth mindset, where they know that failure is a necessary step towards success.
When you make decisions from a place of confidence, you’re more likely to make the right choice. And the right decisions the first time without second guessing or with any regretting. You’re also more likely to be successful in pursuing your goals because your confidence will attract people who want to work with you. People who are bold, confident, and empowered are often more willing to also seize more opportunities in life that will cultivate more luck.
